THE UNIT IS SERVICED BY 1 PHYSICIAN AND NEPHROLOGIST, 1 GENERAL SURGEON, 1 NEURO SURGEON, 2 ORTHOPEDIC SURGEONS, 1 UROLOGIST AS WELL AS ALLIED HEALTH CARE WORKERS
- The adult intensive care unit (ICU) at Ezulwini Private Hospital takes patients following major thoracic surgery.
- We also take patients who have severe medical conditions and who may require close monitoring and treatment in AICU.
- Patients with extensive respiratory problems are also provided with specialist ventilator support. Patients who develop renal failure are managed effectively with hemodialysis therapy.
- The patient-nurse ratio is based on one-to-one care, or two-to-one once the patient is stable.
- In addition, patients who require post anesthetic care are managed overnight in the unit.
- This facility is managed by the AICU unit manager and enables seamless care between the AICU, theatres and the ward areas.
